Upon second viewing, 'Farscape' kinda stunk

I watched the series periodically when it was on Sci-Fi, and recently watched the entire series again on DVD start to finish. While I chuckled at some good writing in seasons 2-3, I honestly don't get what all the screaming was about when the series ended.

The only good episodes were typically when Crichton was trash talking bad guys with Star Wars / Star Trek quotes, or when he was battling Scorpius in his head. Most everything else, including the constantly irritating Chrichton relationship with Erin tended to suck.

Speaking of which, I want to nominate Claudia Black to a short list of over-rated, UN-attractive Sci-Fi actresses. She was amusing / annoying on SG1, but christ, somebody needed to flush her out an airlock in Farscape to improve ratings.

My major Plot revision: 'Upon hearing from Erin that the baby might not be his, Chrichton at first acts depressed and sullen. However, when Erin leaves the room Chrichton lets out a whoop, fist bumps D'Argo, kisses Pilot, smacks Pip on the ass, and tells Scorpius "lets take the shuttle and find us some green slutty women".

To think a living spaceship full of muppets (with some sound effects I noted were stolen from 'Lexx") went on for 4 seasons while 'Firefly' had only 1 season is a big pile of dren, damnit.

Season 3, 'Fire and Water' is amongst my favorite of all time, and among the best Sci-Fi that most people haven't seen. Nigel Bennet's role as 'Prince' was one of the facinating and dimensional villians I've ever seen. The entire Season 2 Mantrid conflict was also quite brilliant and superbly written. Lexx was killed by the horrid Season 4.

It is what it is.

Caludia Black is a sucky actress.

'Farscape' took a dump with the entire Erin/Chrichton romance, a plot arc usually introduced by writers to increase ratings via bored housewives. Up until then, it was fine. Given I've also pulled 'hit -n- runs' with far more attractive women than Claudia Black this leaves me far more critical to her acting skills, or lack there of. She was a terrible character and belonged on a daytime soap opera.

Aeryn Sun was supposed to be dehumanized by her Peacekeeper upbringing, I thought Black did a decent job of portraying that.

Crichton's evolution from slightly nerdy scientist to "Surrender or die!" badass was fun to watch. That and the seasons-long arc about the fight over wormhole technology rates a B+ for the series in my book.

I am in the process of watching Babylon 5 so try that also if you are in the mood for a sci fi show, very good show.

"Unrealized Reality" from the last season is one of the most fucked up episodes of any scifi show I've ever seen. Brilliant, though.

LEXX was simultaneously the best and the worst scifi show ever made.

We need a subforum dedicated to sci-fi TV shows, with a big sticky denouncing the early cancellation of Firefly and denouncing every year that goes by without bringing it back.

That said, Claudia Black wasn't so hot in Farscape days but now, that's definitely not true (or at least in her SG-1 time it wasn't). Lexx was awesome! The dead do not poo!
