Im looking for a UPnP/DNLA media server for WS2012R2. I need to stream my videos to my TV basically.

Thank you

Give Mezzmo a shot, too

www.conceiva.com

Absolutely best customer support I've ever seen from a company over the past 3-4 years. v4 of their software is coming out soon, supporting push-to functions from Android devices, etc.

Serviio > xbmc > ps3 media server > plex

I use Serviio a lot, it rules.

Only reason I suggest Serviio is they have plugins where you can add streaming live video.

The others suggested can play streaming sites too, but I like the GUI of Serviio.

Wmp works for files but not streams.

well you can.

frankly i like WMP. it's a good all around player.
Did you read that thread? Yes, its opened once the Desktop Experience is installed but its UPnP/DLNA server doesn't seem to work. Ive done this as well and it isn't visible to the network.

Have you tested this yourself?

Could have sworn Plex (server) was paid.
Plex Media Server is free.

You can pay them for:
Camera Upload
Plex Sync
Cloud Sync
Early Access
Free Apps
Multi-User

It's stuff you don't need, so it's then 100% free for you to use.

But hey, you could have found out all that stuff yourself in the time it took you to swear that it was paid software. It's premium, but you don't pay unless you want the extra useless stuff.

Ask for help, get defensive when people give you good suggestions. Why even ask for help in the first place?

Dust.

I use Plex. With a Chromecast, I can push an HTPC further out.

It's also worth noting that xbmc is not a server. Unless I'm horribly misinformed.

Someone is on their period!

I looked it up and saw that it was free (just closed source) and then posted that I could have sworn it was free. Nothing else.

Might wanna change that tampax.

XBMC is a UPnP/DNLA server but its way too much so thats why I wanted something more lightweight and that fits my needs. Im gonna try Plex out as well.

I still wasn't convinced, so I looked into it. From xbmc's site:
XBMC is an award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub that can be installed on Linux, OSX, Windows, iOS, and Android, featuring a 10-foot user interface for use with televisions and remote controls. It allows users to play and view most videos, music, podcasts, and other digital media files from local and network storage media and the internet.

xbmc fetches but does not serve. You don't install xbmc on your NAS, you install it on your HTPC. Plex does serve, it's one of the reasons they forked.
