Hi, I dont know if this belongs in this topic but anyway, I have a s754 amd 64 3000+ and i plan on buying a better mobo that has PCI-E slots for agp so i can get a better video card, as well as get better ram. I'm wondering is it worth it to buy a new mobo or just keep the one i currently have and just wait to upgrade a whole new computer?
 
I wouldn't get another 754 board just to reuse the CPU. If you plan on replacing ram, video, and motherboard you may as well replace the CPU at the same time. The additional cost is easily justified by the features and performance available on more recent platforms. And for the price of another case/power supply your still left with your old system to sell, use or give away.
 
oh ok. thanks. oh the other hand, i dont have enough money for a new rig yet, but is it a good idea to buy some additional ram in the meantime i notice my available physicall memory is less than 300, its around 250MB.
 
That figure hasn't been very usefull since windows 9x. Assuming your running windows xp, 1gig is enough for even heavy use or gaming. Unless you run a real pig of a game or some other very demanding software. 512 is also fine but you will probably notice if you upgrade to 1gig.
