That's a pretty bad card, you shouldn't have bought it, it's even slower than a 9100, for that price you could've picked a TI4200.
If you can replace it with a 4200 that would be great.
As for your problem, I never tried the card myself, maybe the resoultion is too high, try to lower it in Safemod.

waiste of money on that card, a $60 4200 128mb would have utterly killed it, send it back to the store

Wait for PCIE, BTX, DDR2, etc to be out (roughly til Christmas). At that point, previous gen (AGP, ATX, DDR) tech will be cheap as hell...you could build a monster system for a very good price.

ok i decided to spend a little more money
for $150 i can get a
GIGABYTE ATI RADEON 9600XT Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "GV-R96X128

and it comes with 3 games
does this seem like a good deal?????

All eight pipelines on the 9500Pro are already enabled by default.

The 9600SE has only a 64-bit memory bus; ditto for any other ATI card with "SE" in it's designation. Also, the 8500/9100 series cards would have a slight edge over the 9000/9200 series. Aside from what you can obtain used, the ATI 8500, 9100, 9600, and the nVidia GF4 Ti4200, FX5600, FX5700LE are *probably* available within your price range. Just be certain that you're buying a card with a 128-bit memory bus, (no FX5600XT, for example). I would avoid the entire FX5200 series like a case of smallpox.

EDIT: Regarding my comment on ATI "SE" cards: Actually, I recall now that the "9800SE" comes in both 128-bit and 256-bit flavors. But, the warning still applies for the balance of their products.

That's a pretty good card for the price, now you can even go ahead and overclock it a bit, to get more performance out of the card. It won't be drastic but it will be noticable. Search up 9600xt overclocking and I'm sure you'll find a guide of somesort that will explain to you how to do it and what's an acceptable overclock.
