Upgrading vid card..need pointers

I currently have a geforce 2 running on my 1.33 t-bird/iwill kk266. I want to upgrade the card first before I upgrade the board/cpu.

I am looking at a 9700pro. Seeing the 9600pro is the 1st that handles dx9 and 9800pro is the top of the line, the 9700pro seems perfect. Is there a certain make of the 9700pro I should steer clear of (i.e. powercolor, sapphire, etc)? What reasons should I NOT go with the 9700 over the 9600 or 9800? Will I need to upgrade my cpu/mobo sooner than later if I go with this card?

Thanks

to get those cards you might wanna consider the MB and CPU upgrade first. they're not really... well matched let's say.

I will be adding a 9600 Pro to my system very soon and I running a 1.2Ghz t-bird and the KT266A chipset on a ECS board.

The 9700 Pro may be a little more than your CPU and motherboard can handle but it will be an improvement over your current card. It would be the best bang for you buck right now. Since a faster board or processor won't make you card run any better.

I understand the cpu/mobo arent the best for the vid card. I plan to upgrade those next but I dont want to get a vid card for my current set up. I really want it for my future set up. I am wondering about the 9700pro makers. Any particular brand I should get or definetely NOT get?

I personlly have always brought Retail ATI cards. It didn't seem like much of a bargain to save 20 or less dollars on a third party card.
