upgrading to x2

I'm going from a 3500+ single to a 3800x2 . everything else is the same. do I need to reformat windows, or will everything detect and be OK?

Please forgive my newbness

don't nobody do me any favors. it don't matter i'm posting with the new x2 in the system now only like 1 hr afters. Windows only wanted a reboot after i installed the new proc. easy enough.

If you're going to be using the same mobo, you shouldn't have to reinstall XP. Reset the BIOS to default settings before swapping in the new cpu. That can possibly help avoid some problems.

thanks for the advice phile. i did put my bios back to defaults before i reinstalled.
