There's that and all the sports events that I wouldn't mind watching in HD either! I've heard cool things about DiscoveryHD though, I'll defintely be checking it out.

Whenever I turn on ESPN HD, it's never in HD...must be my bad luck.

if you had to pick either DVI/HDMI or component then you box should at least come with the cables included. at least mine did.

SportsCenter is always in HD. Most of the primetime or huge games are in HD. Granted, there's plenty not in HD, but what they do show is generally very well done and some of the best HD production out there.

comcast offices are open until like 8pm. you can go there just fine if ou aren't off work until 6pm, thats what I had to do. I went after work and got them no problem. like viper said, they give you component cables, the remote, and the box.

too bad my remote is all jacked up and i've been too lazy to go get another one. my whole right side of my remote just does not work.

I called the customer service department and I was told they don't hand out equipment at their offices. You can only drop it off.

Hah, I went there and picked up the box, you just need proof you have an HD capable tv(manual does it).

At this point it really doesn't matter if I could pick it up or not. They are scheduled to show tomorrow afternoon and I don't have time tonight to go pickup the equipment even if they had it.

I am still trying to decide how to run the cables. Do I want to run the video cables from the cable receiver to my A/V receiver to my TV, or straight from the cable receiver to the TV? I've also got to decide which audio/video inputs to use on my A/V receiver for the audio (and maybe video) from the cable receiver. Decisions, decisions...

If you have an HD set and no HD feeding into it then I would highly suggest getting HD programming. You'll start watching different stuff just because it's in HD. And some of it is fascinating (ex. Lots of IMAX nature/animals films, etc.).

Translation:

You'll be watching all kinds of useless crap you'd have never watched before just because it looks pretty now.

It's amazing the stuff I'll watch just because it's HD.

Viper GTS

Truer words were never spoken, although that show about beavers on HD discovery was pretty freakin cool. Ohh ya, PBS in the evenings has some great HD programs, then again, i like nature stuff.

My fiance and I have a cat, who coincidentally likes to watch Animal Planet. I wonder if he'll be more interested in watching animal programming in HD now on Discovery ;)

Confirmed! Whenever we tune into DiscoveryHD or InHD and there is a nature program on, our cat goes and sits about 2 feet from the TV and is transfixed by what goes on onscreen. Sometimes he'll even get up on his hind legs and try to "paw" at the animals onscreen. Before HD he would only watch a little when laying on the coffee table, now he's totally engulfed and right up in the action in front of the TV.
