Upgrading to an i7 -

I am looking at getting the i7 920, with ASUS P6T SE motherboard and OCZ gold OCZ3G1600LV6GK 6GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL 8-8-8-24 triple channel memory kit.

I have an ARCTIC Fox Freezer Pro that I am planing on using for cooling as this mainboard has the mounting holes for a 775 cooler.

Any thoughts please

I am very happy with the 920. My previous M.O. was to buy the top of the line (fastest), but thanks to this economy, I saved $600. <fwiw>

Looks good, but I would get a mounting bracket for that heatsink (I've never of this particular product). Most LGA 1366 motherboards do not support LGA 775 heatsinks unless they use a mounting bracket for the socket type. If there is no bracket available, then look for another cooler.

I love my i7 920 system built for about $1000 after rebates without a monitor. I am running overclocked at 3.8ghz. My Win7 performance index scores are maxed out or near maxed out except for my lame Hitachi 1TB 7200 rpm causing my disk drive to be at 5.9 score. System is cool as heck if you have the proper case, heatsink, and cooling.

I been playing left 4 dead and the FPS is 200+ consistently and dipping to 130 fps 🙂
