I have a few options on the LCD just narrowing it down now, but was wondering what you think the min video card i could use to get adequate FPS in world of warcraft (large raids and PvP so lots of spell effects and such)

Would a x1900gt be good enough at that res and what about a 7900gs

My processor is an AMD 64 3000+ (939) 1gig ram. Looking to maybe upgrade the processor (AMD X2 4600+) and maybe another 1gig of ram.

I do believe WOW doesn't need a whole lot of power. Also, the 1900gt should do it just fine; it looks like it will handle Oblivion at that res with pretty nice quality settings which is why I bought it. The 7900 should do it as well. You probably couldn't use 8xAA or anything crazy like that, but that really seems like overkill anyway.

problem is you dont read much about video cards in WoW. My current card a 6600gt does fine in solo and small groups (60-100fps) but when i get in large groups (30-70 other players and some NPCs) my frame rates go to crap (<30 and sometimes single digits).

My 6800Ultra runs huge battleground PvP excellent with all options at max (literally). So anything even faster than that such as a 7900GT will be even better.

You might want some more RAM or a faster processor if that's the problem. Try OCing the proc a few hundred MHz and see if it helps; I've heard WOW is pretty CPU intensive, which would of course be worse with more people to keep track of. That could easily be the problem. I'd try that before buying a new video card.

WoW is alot more taxing on vid cards then people give it credit for, like he said when you are in 40 man raids and if there is alot of AOE going it can eat up quite alot of FR's. I run the X1900XT and can still drop in the red at certain times, it doesnt stutter or run poorly but it can nose dive a bit.

Some people will say it's not a good panel just because it's 6 bit, and has a larger pixel size, but I think the 22" Acer WS is a better deal...

I was planning on getting a 2007 FP or FWP, but even after coupons it was $50 more for a smaller, albeit better (8bit) panel...so I pulled the trigger.

It's only $329 right now from Micro Center...

Just something to consider...

Yeah i was thinking about upgrading my processor to and X2 4600+ and get another gig of ram, but if its not going to help i would rather wait till the DX10 stuff comes out and just build an entire new comp.
