So, I'm wondering how many people are gonna upgrade to the x2, and who's gonna wait for socket M2. I was gonna get an x2, but now I think I'll just gonna sit happy with my 2.5ghz Vevice until I get a completely new M2 system. I figure it's best to upgrade to newer tech than keep investing money into current tech.

Anyway, who's gonna upgrade to what?

Given that I just upgraded to an X2 4400+, I'm not planning for a new processor in the "foreseeable" future (through college, or 4 years). The only upgrades I could see happening would be a better graphics card for Vista, or a PCI-E SAS controller and 15kRPM SAS hard disk for OS and programs.

I upgrade about 6 PC in my house each year, asa full refresh is every 2 years (before they become unsaleable)

You need a lot more choices in your menu. My next 3 will be X2's of varing speed.

where's the plain old upgrade to A64? Still running an Athlon 2055+ and have no need for the X2, unless there is some tremendous price drop.

I'm not gonna upgrade until my rig can't run future versions of MS Word?

2 votes now. Though thats a bit of a streach. I'll upgrade when the rig I have won't do the job anymore.

I'll probably wait until M2. I don't necessarily need an X2 right now, but you can bet I will certainly pick one up by the time games start to become fairly multithreaded. This wait should last until the M2 release. If I need to splurge earlier than the M2, I may do so, depending on price.

whats the life of the m2 projected to be anyway? isn't ddr3 18-24 months away?

i'll keep my sandy until next year and then get the x2 which i was thinking would carry me through the m2 but maybe i'm unrealistic.
