When upgrading ram do you need the same brand?


Because I dont know what type of brand of ram I have, so if I need the same brand how can I check mine?

No. But you do need to make sure you have the right type of RAM for your motherboard. Also, if you have a dual channel motherboard, that might be a concern when it comes to adding more RAM. How many sticks do you have now, and what size?

All I know is that I have two 512's and a Asus A8V-E Deluxe mobo.
