I'm going through upgrading my MBD/CPU/MEM, in the process one board has AGP 8x the other has PCI-E 16x.

I currently have a Ti4200 card, due for an upgrade, might be forced to, depending on which of the boards I buy.

Is there a decent PCI-E card around $130-$150ish range? That is definately an upgrade to the Ti4200? (Yes I know the card is ancient)

If you have a choice, go the PCI-E route.

Geforce 6600 128MB 128-bit @ $110, this card is going to be much faster than the Ti4200 you are using.

And also can you tell us more what CPU/motherboard are you planning to buy?

Well, I was trying to avoid answering the MBD question, as I'm on a tight budget.

CPU is planned to be AMD 64 3000+

Currently my board choices are looking at Gigabyte or ECS. ECS being the NFORCE4-A939.

I'm somewhat in the same situation as you. I have an XP3200 and Ti4200. I figured the XP3200 still has some life left in it, so I ordered a 6600GT AGP. The alternative was Nforce4 mb + A64 + 6600GT PCI-E, and $500 in one shot was a little too much for me. I know this is the end of the line for AGP. If I upgrade again instead of building an all new rig, it'll have to be an Nforce3 + A64 Winchester.

Thanks leedog2007, I'm actually scrounging up the money to go for the 6600GT now. Reading the posts in the forum have sold me on it.

Also going to try to go for the Chaintech 939 board instead.

Hmm.. Chaintech 939 Ultra board... and Chaintech 6600GT card. Sounds like I'm not upgrading but replacing my system!
