Question Upgrading processor on a Gateway M285-E

Can I upgrade the processor on a Gateway M285-E from a Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66GHz to Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 2.33GHz?

1) That FSB speed

I know I played with some mobile Pentiums and stuff back in the day but I thought that was in the time of soldered mobile CPUs...

Well it would be a shame if it is soldered, because I looked that model up and it was a thicc and heavy girl. I mean a heckin' chonker! The T7600 is also for sale on ebay and is an old school pin grid chip. Definitely was available for drop in regardless of what Gateway did with it.

The T7600 was a OE option. Make sure you have the newest BIOS and it should work.

Just don't spend much on it. Cheaper to buy a new $200ish laptop if you're in the US.
