I currently have a very old comp (right before I went to college). I'm still in college and finally have some income and will be upgrading my comp. I currently have the following:

CPU: Athlon Thunderbird 1133 mhz
Mobo: Asus A7V-133
RAM: 768 PC133 SDRAM
Video Card: ATI 9700 Pro
HD: WD 20 GB

As you can see, I definitely need an upgrade. I'm thinking about getting the following and will need help determining whether this is all compatible or not. I'm a little behind on the latest technology. FYI: I use my comp for gaming (HL2, WoW, WC3, etc)

CPU: AMD 64 3000+ (Venice core)
Mobo: Epox 9NPA+ Ultra
RAM: CORSAIR ValueSelect 2x512 DDR 400 (PC3200)
Video Card: ATI Radeon X800 XL 256MB PCI Express
Hard Drive: Samsung SpinPoint P Series SP1614C 160GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150
Optical Drive: NEC Black IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3540A
Case: Cooler Master Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW
Power Supply: ThermalTake TR2 W0070 ATX 430W Power Supply 115/230
Monitor: Samsung 710N-BK Black 17" 12ms LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 600:1 0.264mm

I don't have too much money to spend as tuition keeps going up. I'm hoping to spend no more than $1000. Any advice or comments is welcomed. If this stuff seems appropriate, will they all be compatible? Thanks!

everything looks fine except you can ditch the Thermaltake power supply for a 450W Fortron which costs $50. you get massive 12V rails and one of the most reliable power supplies around.

Also, you may wish the switch to another display...no DVI.

Everything looks awesome. Just switch out that PSU with the Fortron mentioned earlier. Fortron >>>> Thermaltake.
