Upgrading my whole system, but I want to keep my current PSU

Right now I am using a single core AMD Athlon 64 3000+ system with an AGP GeForce 8800GT and a few IDE hard drives and stuff... I havent upgraded in several years! except a few minor things here and there.

I am finally planning to upgrade the hell out of my system next month and I'll probably be getting an Intel Q6600 CPU and good mobo and a decent gaming/3D video card, plenty of memory and then 1 to 3 new SATA hard drives.

The newest part on my current system is my Rosewill power supply and I figured that as one of the most fundamental parts of a system, I should be able to leave it in my new system. Its 550 Watts and its a decent psu, so would anyone recommend I get something with more power or what?

Any advice is welcomed

You must've paid a pretty penny for that 8800GT! 😉

You should have enough power. The review at jonnyguru.com recommends keeping it running cool since it uses Fuhjyyu caps.

actually I got it broken and cheap from ebay and then used the still good warranty to get a brand new one for free.

Thanks for your input. I will keep researching the psu thing.

If it has Fuhjyyu caps anywhere inside it.....it'd become a door stop and never be put inside any working case of mine.....but that's just my personal opinion. Too many better quality power supplies out there for not a lot of $$....like some Enhances, Corsairs, new Antecs, etc.
