Upgrading my PC.

1) Yes, this will handle 1080p movies quite well. 780G will accelerate your HD content, so your CPU won't be taxed too much.
2) No, if XP Pro is serving you well, I don't see a reason to waste money on an OS. Unless there's a Vista feature that you HAVE to have...

Everything else looks good. Good luck with your build. I would skip on the PSU upgrade until you've tested that the current PSU can't handle it. The CPU and motherboard is quite power efficient, so it shouldn't have too much of an impact on power requirements.

-WD Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB with 16MB Cache

I might need a new PSU, since the one I have is about 2 or 3 years old.

Could I watch Blu-ray and other 1080p movies with this setup?

Should I get Vista 64-bit if XP Pro is serving me well?

Thanks for any help.

If the XP Pro is 64 bit then no real reason, if it's 32 bit you might want to consider the upgrade.

Nice memory you picked there. I have that same set of G-Skill and it overclocks really nice as well and stable.

The setup looks good to me. Purchase it and have fun.

WD6400AAKS $70

$10 more for a faster drive with a bit more capacity - well worth it.

Otherwise you're replicating a system I just build two weeks ago for a friend, he loves it!

EDIT: And Re: Windows -- just stick with XP until next year when Windows 7 launches. I cannot see spending $100 on Vista when it doesn't offer much over XP and will be replaced in a year.
