Upgrading my desktop with new mobo and proc

So right now I have a Abit IC7 with a P4 2.8Ghz Northwood. I like this combo and it runs well together but with running vista I want to get the most of everything it has to offer and I would like to get PCI-e. I do a little gaming but more multimedia like dvd ripping, encoding, etc.

So as far as a Mobo/Proc combo, what would you guys recommend? I'm not really up to date with all the new stuff thats out. I work alot of hours and dont get a chance to read online like I used to.

Would also like to double this pc as a HTPC for some light recording with dish.

So if you guys don't mind, HELP, lol

We don't mind at all...
We'll do your work for you, no problem...
Send me your budget, name, address, credit card numbers...
I'll order your stuff for you and have it delivered to your house...
If you're too busy to do the assembly, don't worry, I'll assemble and test your new rig, then ship it to you...
So, just PM that personal information.

Hmmm Well I dont think thats what I wanted someone to do at all but thanks for the offer. Don't know if I should take that as a joke or you being serious. I guess I'll just ask some where else. Didn't know I would get a smart ass comment like that.

I was saying that I'm not up to date with all the new stuff and wanted suggestions on what to get. Help trying to figure out what would be best for what I'm going to be doing.

What is your budget for cpu/mobo/video card? You'll need new ram as well (I assume you have DDR with that Northwood cpu), as both AMD and Intel are using DDR2.
