I'm looking to upgrade my 8800GT OC for Christmas this year. My budget is around $250.

Rig Specs:
Intel E6550 @ 2.7GHz w/ Xigmatek Dark Knight
Gigabyte EP45-UD3R
BFG 8800GT OC
2x G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK (8GB)
PCP&C Silencer 750w

I play WoW and current FPS games (MW2, etc) at 1920x1200.

I'm also going to be stashing money away for a CPU/Mobo/RAM upgrade in the spring so I'm not worried about my current system holding a card back.

Thanks!

For 250 i'd go:
- HD 6870 (XFX, Sapphire, ASUS, MSI)
- GTX 470 (eVGA)

too bad you have p45 otherwise you could do gtx460 sli for about that price today. nm. apparently that only works for 768 mb 460s

if ati, i'd choose 6850 over 6870 simply because oc nets you the difference.

GTX 460, HD 6870, or GTX 470.

Possibly even wait a few weeks, see if Nvidia will bring out a new midrange card to replace the GTX 470.

Is the EVGA 470 Superclocked worth the $30 premium over their 460 FTW?

If I were to go with an ATi card, what vendor should I go with? I can't seem to find a consensus on any that are up to the standard of EVGA.

EDIT: Galaxy 60XGH6HS3HML GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) GC Version 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card is on sale at Newegg for $199 after $70 instant savings- no MIR! I'm not sure it will still be on sale when I'm ready to buy, but I thought I'd pass it along.

The GTX460 seems like a much better buy than the 470 when you take everything into consideration.

Gigabyte GTX470 for $207
OR
Gigabyte GTX460 for $161 are good deals.

HD6850 overclocked to HD6870, HD6870, or EVGA GTX460 FTW are also excellent cards.

You can't go wrong with any of these really. If you want a quieter card, I would discount the 470 out of these though.

I think at this point I'm stuck between the 460 FTW and a HD6870.

EVGA's warranty and customer service (something I do have first-hand experience) are top-notch but it seems there is no stand-out when it comes to manufacturers for ATi.

I here that XFX is pretty good- how is their support and customer service?

I second this. The best deals for cards are:
GTX 460 1GB, HD6850 either for $165 or so, or a close to $200 GTX 470. save the rest of cash to upgrade something else.
