Upgrading laptop CPU

Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade the CPU in a laptop? I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 with the Intel T5200. I'd like to upgrade to the T7400. The sockets are the same, but I am not sure if the BIOS will recognize the faster chip.

Thanks!

As long as you have the latest BIOS from Dell, it will work since they sell the Inspiron E1505/6400 with C2D processors (667MHz FSB only).

It is compatible. The 945 chipset is compatible with 533MHz and 667MHz FSB, so C2D and CD processors of both types are compatible with the board. Dell sold the Inspiron E1505/6400 with processors that had 533MHz FSB and 667MHz FSB, so it won't be a problem.
