My future proofing is a bit different than others though. I have always been on a 3-5 year cycle for upgrades. Sometimes ill upgrade more often, sometimes not. For instances my "current" (till the new one is built) gaming pc was a i3-540 with a 6950. It started as just an i3-540 with onboard video.
So sure new things will come in the next year (like they always do) but the 290 will do just fine. For me, ill live with it till it bugs me. Which for my current pc was pretty much getting ready for Fallout 4. The old pc was starting to struggle even on low so it was time to upgrade.
and thanks for all the suggestions...found a pretty killer deal on a Saphirre R290 Vapor-X so i picked up that one. Bit more than the Powercolor but the Vapor-x is supposed to be a lot nicer of a card.
