Upgrading HTPC *large raid array question

I am upgrading my current HTPC. I just bought a 4k OLED 60hz with HDMI 2.0 support.

I am upgrading to a sky lake chipset since it has 4k support.

my question is this.
I plan to setup at least a 24gb raid array with 6x 4tb drives.

Should I use the built in raid from the motherboard: link below

Or use a aftermarket raid card.
Also I plan to use a sad in conjunction with the raid array.

Any help here is appreciated or any tips. I really would love to have a raid that is super fast but also safe if a drive fails.

Thanks

Since it's an HTPC, I am going to assume you need Windows. The onboard software RAID will not be "super fast" and I typically recommend it only as a last resort. You say that speed is a necessity, but do you have an idea how fast? The fastest performance you are going to find is with a hardware RAID card and server grade HDDs. If 150MB/s is fast enough then you could get that with SnapRAID or FlexRAID. If you are able to use Linux, then a ZFS system with ordinary desktop drives can be really, really fast as well.

I know different HDDs are quieter than others, but do you really want that many drives whirring away next to the TV? Or do you not mind a little white noise?
