Upgrading GTX 670

Should I snag another GTX 670 from ebay and run them SLI or should I just upgrade?

My specs are in my signature.

Also looking to build a second system for my girlfriend and we both want to play games like Ark, Divinity, and others.

I'd like to know what best bang for buck option is for video cards right now. Budget would be low $300 for each systems graphics slots. Anyone have any insight as to whats going to happen come black friday? Lol.. its nice balling on a budget sometimes! 😀

I guess a better question is when will this 2500k be the bottleneck?

You're fine with the 2500K@4.8 GHz. A $320 970 could net you about 50% more framerate. A 670 is very very close to 960 performance (just fyi). I'm not familiar with those games -- you may get by fine with average gfx settings at 1080.

Seems like a second 670 could be much cheaper, if your PSU is good to go, and your games are well supported for SLI. A single card is more of a sure shot though. Put the 970 in your machine, and the old 670 in the next machine.

960 won't next you really any upgrade; 380 would be 15% roughly upgrade. 390 would be best upgrade; they can be found from 289

that's for PCS+ Sapphire Nitro *one of the best 390s* is 309.....those ones I'd be looking at.

You could go the super cheap route and snag 670; but ram will becoming a limiting issue......just depends on what you want to do.

Divinty runs great on everything; Ark runs like crap on everything 😀 its not optimised at all...😀

I had a similar question as you a few weeks ago and decided to get another 670 from ebay.

Performs similar to a single 980 on most games, that is where SLI is avaliable. Plays anything I can throw at it on max at 1080p. Make sure you have good cooling as It'll be chucking more heat that any single card (even the Titan X)

Stay far away from 670 2GB SLI. 2GB cards are DOA.

GameGPUs most recent Batman AK testing shows 2GB cards getting destroyed.

High textures required 3GB+ videocards.

That means your best course of action is to sell the GTX670 and get something like a GTX970 or an R9 390.

I would lean towards the R9 390 at this point since it's faster and has more VRAM as a bonus. $295 Sapphire Nitro is a great card.

Of course if you don't mind waiting, there are bound to be some deals on the GTX970/980/390/390X before December 31st.

Also, keep your eyes out on an EVGA B-stock GTX980 that often pops up for $370-380. That's a solid deal.

Yah those are the cards I was looking at.

Going to be keeping my eyes peeled for 970 deals over the next couple months and will probably sell my gtx 670 as theyre still bringing around $150 on ebay.

Thanks all for the replies.

Don't forget to check EVGA's B-stock deals as sometimes they have ACX 2.0+ GTX980 for $370-380.

Here is an XFX R9 290X 8GB with lifetime warranty for $300 US on Amazon. Very good deal too as it's essentially a slightly slower R9 390X for $80-100 less.

no more GTX 970... it's 3.5GB with issue.
if you looking at FPS on ms level, you will find a lot of FPS drop.

R9 390 8GB vs GTX 970 3.5GB bug... this isn't hard choice.
no one wanna upgrade a design bug product..

otherwise you will going GTX 980/Fury X.

I choose GTX 980 and waiting Fury for AMD side.
My R9 280X function well...it's still good enough now.

and I must to say there is lot of crap NV drivers now.
when I install new NV driver. it's give me a lot of BSOD.

NV drivers become SSD killer now!

I see a b-stock 970 for $259. Some of their other b-stock prices are insane.

Ya, the $259 price for the 970 isn't good at all since we had $290 brand new 970s with MGS V. Also, it's now possible to find a Gigabyte Windforce 390 for $270. EVGA's B-Stock 980 for $370-380 was a good deal though but it sells out very quickly.
