I want to upgrade my graphics card and looking for a
mid-range card like geforce fx5700 ultra or radeon 9600 pro.
which one should i choose ?? i mean the one that gives me better overall performance in games.
and what u think i would gain in performance considering i have a geforce 4 ti 4600 now.
My system specs could help u tell more:

Aopen ATX Case (QF50C)
PSU - JUPITER 350 Watt PSU (+3.3V/28A +5V/25A +12V/16A)
Motherboard - MSI 865PE Neo2
Intel Pentium 4 CPU - 3.0 GHZ (800 FSB)
Arctic-cooling 4PRO-TC Super Silent Fan installed
RAM - Kinsgton Value RAM - 512MB x 2 (Dual Channel)
2 System/Casing Fans installed
LG DVD ROM DRIVE
LG CD/RW 52X DRIVE
80GB Maxtor - 7200 RPM
40GB Seagate - 7200 RPM
Gainward Geforce 4 Ti4600 - 128MB

dude, thats like buying a bike for £1000 and getting some real cheap tacky pedals.. ok bad example lol.. but your PC is nice, it deserves a 9800 pro.

edit:secondly, i consider going ti 4600 To those 2 cards, a downgrade.

Consider at least a 9800 Pro (or a FX 5900XT if you prefer nVidia over ATi) if not higher for such a nice system. Getting a 9600 Pro or FX 5700 ultra would be such a waste especially since the FX 5700 ultra is only about $20 cheaper than a 9800 Pro yet the peformance of a 9800 Pro is so much better.

I think the 9800 Pro is the sweet spot now for getting the best bang for your buck.

Going from a 4600 to those cards is not a downgrade. Maybe a little faster without AA and AF but turn them on and the 4600 gets killed.

I would recommend a 5900xt or a 9800Pro both would be worlds better than the 5700U or a 9600XT. For the 590)XT i would recommend MSI 5900XT-VTD128 (Comes with VIVO and OC's to Ultra speeds) for the 9800Pro i would recommend the MSI RX9800Pro (faster RAM allows for 9800XT speeds).
