upgrading from 9600xt

I just got a pretty good deal on a sapphire x800 pro. I decided to send my 9600xt into retirement as it just sucks these days and I want to play HL2 and FarCry @ 1024x768 4xAA, 8xAF for once (I have a 17inch CRT).

Anyway the molex connector instructions confuse me. It says to plug one end of the splitter into the card then one end into the hard drive and the last end into the lead I was using for the HD. Umm, wtf ... why not just give the card it's own lead? The instructions are explicit about this too which makes me think it needs to be done this way.

You can give the card it's own lead.

IF you use the splitter, they want you to put the card first, because it will pull more current.
