Upgrading... fresh install needed?

I just upgraded finally from Socket A into an AMD X2 system. This also necessitated an upgrade in ram and video card. Ive put the ram together, but that leaves me with very little money. I am looking at getting a 6500 card as a way to get me going and then upgrade to an SLI setup later on down the road with a purchase of 2 more expensive cards.

When I go from the 6500 to the higher end Nvidia cards, will I need to reinstall the OS(XP)?
