I have a Pioneer Tray loading DVD and I am currently running Windows 2000. In the readme file of the firmware upgrade zip, the readme tells you how to upgrade the firmware of your DVDROM under Windows 9x which reuiqres you to jump into DOS.

How do you upgrade the firmware under Windows 2000? Do you just upgrade it whilst running 2000? Is it safe to do so?

Thanks.

PS: Also forgot to mention I am running NTFS not FAT32

You need to get yourself a DOS boot disk or an old 95/98 boot disk. This is what I had to do to get my firmware updated.

Just a thought, when 9x dies out completely with DOS, how do hardware companies expect people to upgrade their firmware without going into DOS?

you'll need to get "DrDOS 7.X Disk For Bios Flashing Basic-No Drivers " from the bootdisk site!
