Hi guys I recently acquired a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 and am about to change my E6550 Core.

My motherboard is a Asus P5N-E SLI

I did verify that the processor is supported my question is this though.

I currently have a DVD burner, dvd rom drive, 8800 GT, Wireless N card, and a 400GB hard drive in the machine currently.

I only have a 500 Watt power supply which is doing fine with the current setup I have.

Would changing to this processor force me to upgrade to a better power supply?

The power supply was made from a left over Velocity Micro machine I was able to pick up and it seems to work for what I have right now.

As far as the processor goes right now I have 4gb DDR2 800 from Corsair with Vista ultimate - Should I consider going up to a different motherboard to get the most out of this processor? Is it recommended to change the memory to something faster?

For now, I would just put your new processor in your existing mobo since it supports it. Your power supply should be ok with just a cpu change.
See how it works, then later on, if needed or desired you can get a better mobo.
