Ok so right now I have a couple sticks of mushkin rev2 sdram that can both go over 145mhz and a p3 933. I am looking to upgrade to a thunderbird with ddr so I need a new mobo too... SO can anyone recommend me the best ddr mobo out for the money, the cheaper the better. I was looking at Epox but only 2 ides ports is a turn off. Do I need an extra one if I want to run a Dvd-rom and a burner on one and a hard drive on the other? And should I go for the Athlon MP or just regular?

I am not sure on the ddr mobo...You can't just get a pci controller card to gain the extra ide ports...The epox board is supposed to be pretty encredible...

As for the mp I would hold off until some of the members here waiting for them give us a bit of a review...The price is still rather high even if you assume they are actually running 10 to 15 percent faster. At that perceived mhz you can still get a tbird of that size cheaper...I am still trying to figure out why these things are not lower default voltages...seem to be still 1.75v for core...

The Epox is a great board for the money. I don't know what you're improvement over that 933 Mhz is going to be considering the price you're going to have to pay, but it's your money. Anyway, two IDE ports is pretty standard. It means you can run four devices on the motherboard (a burner, a DVD-ROM, and two hard drives or any other combination of four devices). If you need more than that, the PCI plug in cards are reasonably priced to add another four devices. The other option is to spend the extra money up front for the EPOX 8-K7A+ which has built in RAID capabilities.

The EPoX is the best bang for the buck. I also like the Asus A7M266 and the MSI K7 Master. The Master has a limit of 150fsb which kinda sucks, but its very stable and reasonably priced at $150. The Asus is stable and does NOT have multiplier adjustments, but the Asus can sure hit HIGH fsb's. Its around $170, which is overpriced. If your on a tight budget then get the FIC AD11, its only $110, and has no good features :D JK. I dont know about the MP, Its not the official Palomino, I would just get a cheap $110 1.2Ghz tbird until palys come out.

Im planning on overclocking the crap out of the processor with my Alpha PEP66 with Delta fan and am hoping for at least 1.5 ghz. And I figured the cooler running palomino core of the MP will help in my overclocking
