Hey, I'm trying to upgrade a comp from a celeron 400 to a p3 600. It seems to detect the cpu just fine but a few seconds into the boot it starts making strange beeping noises. The beeps continue until i shut the comp off. I remember dealing with this problem a while back but don't remember how i fixed it or what was causing it. Anyone have any ideas?

mobo is a Delta mp2-bx-x with latest bios

There are several types of P3-600.
Like E , EB and such. Which one do you have ?

E requires different vcore voltage.EB has 133 MHz fsb.
Both are not supported by your mobo.
What you need is older P3 ( with 512kB cache).
There should be info on CPU itself. What does it say?

That sounds most likely to be the problem here but I can't find any info on the processor. The only thing that stands out are two cache chips on the right that say 300mhz on them. Any other ways to find out if this thing is an E, EB, or standard?

On the top black casing of it, look for some numbers. Look for 512k or 256k. Also look for 600 and see if there are any letters after it.

Take a look here for the voltage requirements for the P3.

I think you have an older P3 with 1/2 speed cache, the basic 600 (or the 600B), both have a voltage requirement of 2.05V - quite juicy..

Hope it helps.

Hey thanks for the link. looks like this thing is an old p3 600 (100mhz bus, 512k cache and 2.05v). I read the .pdf manual from their site and it seems like the board completly supports this cpu.. So, where do I go from here?

I wonder if this board has some jumper
to choose 66/100 fsb. Also clear CMOS,
could be some setting left from Celeron.
