For BL2, if you're going to upgrade the GPU you will want to go nVidia for sure. Not only is it a Physx enabled title, but it actually makes pretty extensive and noticeable use of it.

there's always ebay for the budget concious; a used 470 / 560ti / 650 / 7850 / 6870 would do the deal with less than a hundred bucks.

Each to his own I guess. I have an AMD card and enabled high cpu physX, and it was not a game changer to me. In fact I turned it off because it seemed distracting, just too much stuff flying around that looked artificial. Maybe gpu physX is better. I suppose it is just a matter of opinion though.

Thanks for the info provided so far. I've passed along the "your card sucks" message and "start saving quarters"

Is the 560ti a reasonable upgrade for him?

I've been looking for an "excuse" to upgrade my graphics cards. I've got two ASUS 560ti DirectCU II Top and they've done reasonable but didn't quite like 3 monitor resolutions:$

Yes, a 560Ti will destroy a HD6450. Your nephew will for sure start enjoying BL2 and TW2 using such a card.

Edit :
Here are some numbers...

Just change the second card to get an idea how it compares to other gaming cards.

It's Borderlands 2... Everything looks artificial.

HEY!! YOU STEALZ MY P0ST!

Yes, the 560ti will destroy the 6450 and then some more.

@John - my guess is that you are running out of VRAM, it's not the horsepower perse, it's more of .. hmm .. fuel lines not big enough? Something along those lines. Don't really think you can solve the problem though, so you will have to sell your Ti' and get a new GPU :/
(but ask around a bit, first)

lol agreed.

I still play it alot and borderlands 2 without physx does seem like there is something missing when you turn it off.

Agreed, also find it comical when people say the debris is distracting... Evidently blowing things up impairs your ability to see gud, who knew? 😛

lol its distracting because they are looking at the ground instead of the enemies in front of them.....:whiste:

Raedon 6450

lol. I wish all problems were so easily solvable. From what it sounds like, you guys would probably be blown away by a 7770. No need to spend more. You might even try a used 5770 or 5850 or 6850. In fact there's a 6850 currently bidding at $75 on a certain site I wont name. Bidding ends in 15 minutes.
