I just purchased a 512mb stick of Kingston ValueRAM (CVR1133X64C3/512) to replace a 64mb stick of Infineon (PC100-222-620) that was in a Compaq Presario (Celery 667).
I get no video after installing the memory...i've tried reseating it several times. Is it possible that this particular motherboard doesn't like this particular stick of ram? Is PC133 not backward compatible with PC100? The Kingston memory has the chips on both sides while the Infineon has chips on one side only.
Can anyone help?

PC133 vs. PC100 isn't the issue. Your motherboard doesn't support 'high-density' type RAM of which all 512M modules use and many 256M modules use. You should be able to use 256M modules as long as they don't use 'high-density' chips. (256M modules should work as long as there are chips on both sides)

which Presario model..? bozo1's correct..even quite a few generic pkgers are denoting such disclaimers I'd use Crucial(or Kingston's) memory configurator to determine what is actually usable then go from that point...gl
