Upgrading an HP ZT1000 notebook from 1.06GHz mobile Celeron

Has anyone done any upgrading of the "multimedia" version of this notebook - with the built in firewire ports and MP3 base?

I have been looking to get a faster processor that would fit, can't find any mobile Celerons at newegg, so I suppose a pentium M might fit, but at what speed?

Anyone able to lend a hand?

the fastest that thing will take is a mobile p3 1.33

thats pretty hard to find. the 1.2 is easier.

they come in a special mpga 478 format. a pentium M will not work . its probably not a worth while upgrade, the bios also might not work correctly with certain steppings of the new cpu (they made a zt1000 with a 1.2 P3 though so itll probably work).

check ebay there are tons of mpga2 chips there. search for "mobile pentium" or something .

i probably wouldnt bother. a 1.2 is gonna cost you around $100, ad well .... you get 256k more cache with the same associateivity as ytour 1.06 celeron and 133 mhz for that.

oh and speedstep. probably not worth it.

mobile celerons were very much better than desktop ones. your 1.06 has 256k cache and 133 bus, so its basically a desktop p3 1.06 with low power.
