Ok, I just went through all this crap of selling my old memory on ebay just to find out that the memory I bought to replace the memory I had is incompatible. I am now using memory from another computer that had rambus memory and the system is running slow as molassus. It turns out that with a simple bios downgrade, I could've used my old memory, what makes things worse is the fact that I figured this out by reading an old post of mine and the responses to it, which I obviously forgot about. So now I'm wondering, why is this system running slow, is it the processor or the ram, I have no idea, all I know is that memtest86 is giving my memory a bandwidth mark of only 1200MB/s.... :| Is it my memory isn't in dual channel or am I running slow memory? WTF is going on?

This is an HTPC system, doesn't exactly need to be 'speedy', therefore I'm happy with what I have except this problem I've currently got. I'm wondering if the motherboard is defaulting to PC600 memory speeds or not.

If it is rambus 800 which I assume, then it could be 45ns (you need rambus 800 40ns ram to do 533fsb) ram which forces a 400fsb instead of the 533 the 3.06 would like to run at. That would cause something.

Naw, what happened was when I had the newer bios it said that I need 40ns. So I downgraded to the A04 bios and it worked. It says I'm running at 3.06ghz w/the PC800 45ns modules. I swear this system is slower than it was when I had the 1.7 in there..

Yea there is something seriously wrong.. I just did a 3D Mark 2001 test on my 9800pro and I got a score of 2200 at default settings! Compared to the 10K score on my 1.7ghz processor.

Well prhaps the FSB is still running at 533 but the ram is running slower and there for having a divider penitly, for not running in sync. All I know is that 45ns ram with a 533FSB usually doesnt even work so I would imagine something is up with that.

Well this is just fscking dandy... I managed to get some 40ns memory from my sister to try out in my system, turns out that I only got a barely faster score. I went from 2200 on 45ns to 2700 on 40ns memory. There has got to be something wrong. Maybe I'll reupgrade the bios back to A09 and see if this alleviates the problem.

Yea, well ******. Turns out that I'm going to have to stick with the A09 bios and have to get some 256MB 40ns memory in replacement of the recently purchased 32ns PC1066 memory.
