I have been noticing ads for a few months, that my ISP is now offering minimum speeds of 100Mbps down/10 up. But my speed has remained the same, a respectable 15/3Mbps. I finally decided to give them a call to see why I'm not getting the new minimum, and of course I needed a new modem from them.

I went and got the new modem just before the local office closed, and they casually mentioned that for $1 more, I could get the 200/20 package. "Uhm, I dunno, YES! " I replied.

I guess I tested at a busy time, everyone in my hood is home from work, watching Netflix or whatever, because I was only able to get 194/21 from Speedtest.net. :D :D

We've been on AT&T fiber for around a year surfing along at 300 / 300 Mbps :)

We've come a long way since America Online with a dial up modem.

Although in a couple of years when our two kids are gone, I'll probably drop down to the 100 / 100 plan. Right now with four people streaming HD or 4K this, downloading that, and playing games the extra speed is nice.

Ye Olde Atari bbs' could* do 450 baud with MPP's. Upgrading to 2400 was like WOW! :)

* 450 had some errors. You could try at 600, but any line noise made a freaking mess of it.

200/20 is awesome. That 300/300 is ridiculously amazing!

I'm pretty much stuck with Comcast, but at least I got 25/5 for 20 bucks a month. Speed Test gives me about 30/2.5 but it's still plenty for me.

If we get fiber around here, I'll break down and go with that I think, but for now the cost is great and the service runs just fine.

I have 25/3 because we are cheapskates, even that costs $60 in this neck of the woods. Frankly, I am happy to have even that much, being in "flyover country" as we are (rural Idaho).

I've had 15/10 for many years. Was enough for 3 doing streaming and online gaming.

Came across a deal for Fiber at 1Gbps/1Gbps for $15 extra a month... well, the rest is history.

The funny thing is that we're on fiber now, but they want $190/mo for 1/Gbps
I guess someone has to pay for all that new infrastructure...

I am at 50/50, and for $10 more a month can be at 150/150, but I don't need that. (FIOS fiber optic all the way to the house, 1500/1500 available I think)

I got a pleasant surprise this week. My WAP is dying, so after remembering something about an offer for a free wifi router from our ISP, I called to inquire. Turns out that this month, I can not only have the router, but an upgrade to 100/10 for the same $60/mo we're paying now. Still not the best deal in the world, but pretty killer for where we are! The only downside that I can see is that this Calix router is managed by our ISP and (presumably secure) communication between our ISP and the router's management interface is always enabled.
