Upgraded my CPU, why are my scores so low?

I just went from an Athlon 1477 mhz to an XP 2200+ and my 3DMark2001 scores only went up by 100 points! I notice the computer is faster in everyday computing tasks but I don't know why my benchmark scored did not increase much.

I'm running an XP2100+ with 512 MB of PC133 ram and a GeForce2 GTS video card. Any thoughts or suggestions?

You aren't doing your CPU justice by having that video card, upgrade that puppy and reap the benefits!

As stated above....Even in the older setup the vid card and sdram was the limiting factor, or bottleneck so to speak....Jump to ddr and get a 8500 or ti4200 and you should see a flat out doubling of the score...

No can do on the ram as I just upgraded the motherboard so I could use this chip and it does not accept DDR ram. I was told that the ram speed wouldn't make much of a noticeable difference in games and day to day computing tasks. I guess the way to go is to buy a better video card, thanks.

DDR vs SDR: on day-to-day tasks, no not much speed difference. On games, big time! Dual Channel DDR333 or 400 Mhz will crush PC133, for exanple.

Upgrade the video card and you will get a big boost in performance - that's your biggest bottleneck right now.

Yes, definately upgrade your videocard. I'd recommend a GeForce4-Ti4400 because they are relatively inexpensive and overclock past GeForce4-Ti4600 speeds.
Also, DDR-SDRAM (especially dual-channel DDR-SDRAM) will give you 2.1GB/second compared to 1.05GB/second while dual-channel DDR-SDRAM'll give you a minimum of 4.2GB/second which is comparable to PC1066 RDRAM. It does make a big difference. Trust me.:)
