HELP!!!!! 🙂 proly somthing stupid I've done :/

Oh HD's Maxtor 52049-h4 20gig 7200rpm 4 months old with win98se from a Asus P2B pee 3 450 mobo

Let me get this straight; it works fine with the HDs but with a different video card, and when you put in the GF2MX, you get an error?

Ok, it gives the error wit both the on board video, and the GF2mx

Tried default settings.

I tried 2 HD's laying around with no Operating system and they got farther. I think I did something to the HD when I switched out the Mobo 🙁

I'm contacting Maxtor for a warrinty replacement. <sigh> now if i had only Backed up before I did all this! 😱

/begin self pity

If you have a boot disk you can run fdisk from it and see what it tells you about the partition information... Could you have gotten a boot sector virus?

Take it all apart, and put it away.
Work on it after at least a 12 hour break.

When you do try again, start with all cables, jumper pins, all the details.
Go through all the BIOS settings.
Only start with a HD, CD, and video.
Take your time.

This helps me when I'm missing something small (if that's what it is).

Good luck.

Well crapola. I downloaded and used maxtors "powermax" diag. software. It returns a strange error code the techs will not provide info about. replacement HD will take 3-5 days to get here.

Guess I'll install on one of my older HD's and ghost it when it gets here. I just hope it's new drive and not a referb. it was only 3 month old.
