Hi all. Not in this forum much at all anymore. My life has taken me in other directions the past couple of years so I've kind of been in a "stay the course" mode as far as updating. My video card, an ATI/AMD X1800 pro though is in need of replacing.

I run both Vista and XP as well as Ubuntu and have a X4800 (I think) dual core AMD chip and 2GB's of ram.

What would be a reasonable upgrade for me that would reap the most benefits?

Get a 4850 512MB for the best price and call it good. :)

+ grab 2GB more RAM if you can.

Yeah, HD4850 should do the trick. Hell, a 9800gt would be an amazing upgrade. Not sure if another 2gb is needed ( especially if you're allready running 4x512mb )

It is said nvidia has better linux drivers, but afaik ati pretty much caught up with them regarding linux drivers.
