I am looking to see what my options are for upgrading my PC

I have currently
Corsair 8 gig vengeance DDR 3 ram
1200 watt power supply
Asus Maximus iv extreme
Intel i7 2600k 3.4ghz
2 GeForce 580 GTX
WD raptor 600 gig 10k rpm

The video card stands out but would I have any issues upgrading it to 980?

Do I need to upgrade my hard drive as well?

If so would SSD and my new video card bottleneck my current motherboard ?

Get a 500 GB SSD. Plug it into the SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. There should be no bottleneck. Put your operating system on there. It should give you the best bang for your buck.

No issues upgrading to the GTX 980 ( I'd like your old 580) :)

Yes, replace the Raptor hard drive.

Put the new SSD on a SATA 3 port & shouldn't be any bottle neck with either..
