I have a VooDoo3 2k card right now and want to upgrade to "the next tier" of video cards ($150 to $175). Any suggestions? I've got an Athlon Classic 700@825 with KA7 mobo and a KDS 195tf 19". This of course will be for CAD and some more gaming (ahem...my son is getting older).

i would suggest a radeon, but its T&L engine is week for CAD. a geforce DDR, or a geforce2 GTS (if you can get a good one in your price range) would both be very good choices.

dude - buy the Leadtek Geforce2 GTS 32MB With TV Out from www.atacom.com for $175, best bang for the buck

I just upgraded from a Voodoo3 2K too, and I also have that sweet KDS monitor

Hmm...you may want to wait a little bit for the next generation(NV20, Rampage). They will blow today's cards away. The low-end Rampage will probably fit into your pricerange. And if it doesn't, when NV20 is released, the GF2u/pro will probably drop to prices near that as well.

Get the Leadtek Geforce2 GTS 32MB With TV Out from www.sg3d.com not atacom.com

Its $175 and ive had good experiences with sg3d. I also bought that same card from sg3d for $250 when it first came out.

yeah, the guy is right I'd rather buy just the card from sg3d, but if you are buying other stuff, it's cheaper to buy all of it from atacom.

I got athlon 1ghz + asus a7v + leadtek geforce2 for $523 shipped
