To all,
I would like to know if I upgrade my P3 733 Mhz w/ fsb 133mhz to a P3 1 Gighz would it be worth it? or would i be better off upgrading to Celeron 1.1 Gigz with a 100 Mhz fsb? My machine can not be upgraded to the new tualatin cores, so I am limited to the coppermine series. I really can't afford to buy a whole new machine, so I figure upgrading the cpu would be the right move.

Thank you,
Chris

The AMD choice suggested wouldn't be a good idea. That board is well known for it issues and is potentially the buggiest board ever made. Some people have no problems with it but why take the chance. I don't believe that such a small speed step would be worth the money. You would still be using the same HDD interface, ram, etc. I would suggest waiting until you can get a new processor, ram, etc. It's up to you but my OPINION is that it's not worth it.

What does the rest of your PC consist of? Maybe we could suggest a better way of spending that money...

first off you will not see a big performance boost going to a 1gig p3 if you have 300 to spend I suggest getting a asus a7v333 mobo corsair pc2700 ram and a athlonxp 1600+ that will give you the kick in the pants you want.
