Upgrade to Onkyo 580 from z5500?

Is it worth it at all? I can get a brand new 580 for $180 after taxes.. and maybe a $25 rebate if it goes through. Would it be a noticable upgrade? Is it even an upgrade?

You want to upgrade to larger bookshelf speakers if you want a real sound quality upgrade rather than something that might be a dubious difference.

I see.. i've been reading avsforums.com and some have said that the reciever on the 580s are pretty decent.. could i do better if i were to buy one for $180? I am thinking about getting a 2.1 setup for now and upgrade later when i get the funds. This will be for a small room.. about 7x5 meters. Any recommendations? I am willing to spend around $350-400 but lower is better. Any best 'bang for the buck' items i should be looking into?
