Thats what im asking I currently have an MSI kt3 ultra (KT 333 chipset) with a 1700 overclocked (166X11) on less than default voltages so I KNOW there is a lot more room on this chip. My pc2700 memory is Samsung original and at the time was considered a good OC memory so I SHOULD be able to OC it a little bit from here. IM looking at buying the shuttle nforce2 board which is cheap enough do you think Ill notice a difference?

YES. look at my other post. i just got my xp1800 to 2200mhz. on my msi k7t turbo2 i could only get it to 1804. i dont know why every one says it but on my shuttle an35n-400 i have full use of multplyers 8-20 not just 8-12.5. so yes if you upgrade you can do better, depending on the chip of corse.

Definitely will notice a difference going from KT333 to nF2, I know I did. You shouldn't have too much trouble getting that Samsung to 3200 speed, which chips does it use? If you can run 400DC-DDR synch mode and you can juice that 1700+ for 2.2-2.4ghz you will be a happy camper.

the chips are marked Samsung 301 and samsung 238 which kinda sucks since i had thought I got two matching pairs {from newegg quite some time ago}

The 238 stick comes up as using the TCC4 chips which is what my 3200DDR uses and it'll do 440DDR with 2.9v and 3-4-4-7 timings so I think that stick is going to be great. I couldn't find anything on the 301 but if you look on the ram stick at the printing on the chips you'll see what they are. First look at the 238 and when you see the TCC4 marking look in that spot on the other for what chips it uses.

Thanks punisher and that is great news because every other marking is identical on those chips. If I hit 200 fsb with these chips ill be stoked. And yeah it was TCC4

the only things i see wrong with the kt333 are the following:

no agp/pci lock
not good overclockers
no sata, gigabit ethernet, soundstorm, etc.
and no dual channel ddr 400 support

all this said the decision comes down to how up-to-date of a person are you ?

good luck

well thats my thinking of upgrading to the nforce 2.. right now my system is lacking a lil bit gaming wise, and I personally feel with the changes coming out very soon it would not be wise to begin a full system. If an Nforce 2 gives me a decent upgrade for the next few months then id be a happy camper.. Kinda the same situation im in with video cards i need to upgrade gf3ti500 is not cutting it no more.. but i don't even wanna buy a $200 9800 pro till I see what happens with NV And ATI's budget versions of the new cards.
