I have the options on a system i am purchasing to get a 6800 gto for 75 more bucks or a x800xt for 135 more bucks.

which is a better option?

From the benchmarks I've seen, isn't it the X800XT PE that is the equal to the Ultra?

But like everyone else said, X800XT is much better then the 6800GTO. Maybe not the GT, but definitely the GTO 😉.

Both 6800s and x800s have their moments. Pick one based on the settings you run and the games you play.

If money is no object you can *try* to find an XT-PE.

I decided to save my money and I bought a BFG-GT which clocks up to Ultra speeds no problem. So for $400 I bought myself an Ultra.

so you guys are saying getting n 800xt is better than an overclocked 6800GT to ultra speeds?? If so, can you overclock and 800xt to even higher speeds??

If its $75 extra to get a 6800GT, i'd save the remaining $60 towards an Audigy 2ZS or something.

If its $75 to get 6800GTO, i'd definately get x800xt.

The 6800 gto is not that good, the pipelines arent open and are locked. Also the clocked speeds are lower, in this case I would go for the x800xt. Or if you cant wait get the 6800gt should be released soon in pci express.

www.ati.com sells x800xtpe i think that is the best deal from their site. i htink it goes for only $500 compared to places like newegg that is like $600. People get teh 6800GT because its under $400 and ati's similar card is the x800pro. The 6800GT beats the x800pro but no other ati x800 cards.

x800xtpe > x800xt > 6800U > 6800GT > x800pro

I say best card for considering performance and money is the 6800GT

There is an eBay seller "iomunek" (with zero feedback and "not a registered user") that is palming, er, I mean, auctioning off over 200 ATI X800 XT PE video cards - starting bid is $299. One guy is the highest bidder on five of these auctions and the highest bid is over $800:Q. Good luck, brother.
