Upgrade to 6 or 8 core?

Actually I already have a couple of Intel systems, which one is my main system. I mentioned the AMD because I didn't feel like replacing the motherboard in the computer that I was thinking of upgrading.

Keep your money and wait until Intel comes up with an alternative to the product you need right now, because you need to buy Intel.

For that usage, the 3-core is already an overkill, why in god's name would you need an 8core?

Why doesn't he just get a FX 8350 its only 200 dollars and mobo 100. Salvage the RAM PSU and video card and storage.

I considered the 8 core monster OCed to 5Ghz vs a Sandy Bridge 2700k @ 5Ghz on Sonar X2 ... That is all I care about I know games will fly and desktop cant be slower then my Q6 and used busted mobo. gl
