I have a 400MHz PII in an Abit BX6r2 mobo right now. I have 64MB of PC133 memory (soon to be increased with a 256MB stick). I'd like to upgade it. I'm looking at getting an MSI-6905 Slotket and 866MHz Socket 370 PII. Does this soud good, or should I wait for something else? I'd like to not replace my mother board if possible, so will this sloket and processor work together? Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention, I have an ATI Radeon VIVO 64MB. How well does this run at 89MHz (as opposed to the normal 66Mhz)? If my system doesn't run well with a 133Mhz FSB, can I downclock the FSB to 100MHz?

I would suggest a P3 of the 100MHz FSB flavor. This way, you're guaranteed to have it work in your system (instead of running your vid card horribly out of spec which it may or may not handle fine). From there, you can always overclock until your system is no longer stable, maybe even up to 133FSB or higher.

Hmm, honestly not sure about under-FSB'ing 133-bus P3's. I think if it was easily done I'd have heard about it, which I haven't (so far).

I know the P3-700s at 900+ were the old favorite (and many people still use them); perhaps you can pick up a chip in the FS/FT forum for cheap, and then you'll even know what it overclocks too. Just a suggestion!

I also recommend sticking with a PIII for 100Mhz FSB, you can always try to overclock to 133Mhz FSB. I run a 700E@933 on an Asus CUBX, see My Rigs below for full system specs.

Also, my Radeon does not seem to mind the overclocked AGP bus.
