Upgrade Thinkpad?

I have a Thinkpad i series (Type 2600). The battery only gives me about an hour of life. I don't think it is worth spending the money on a new battery unless I can improve the MoBo or harddrive.

Should I get a new laptop, or is there any way to upgrade it. It is a Pentium II, with a 2 Gig hard drive. I have to delete something every time I want to add a new program.

Primarily I use it for travelling 4-5 times a year, and as a backup to get online when my wife is on the desktop. If I buy a new one, does it have any value if I try to sell it?

Your question may be better answered in the "Small Form Factor, Notebooks....." forum. It may be time to consider replacing the laptop as they are difficult to upgrade (you can usually add a different hard drive and memory if the BIOS supports it) There is a pretty big market for used laptops on eBay, do a search for a model similiar to yours and check the results. Good luck and :DWELCOME:D!!!!

The only things upgradeable on most laptops is the ram and hard drive. A PII era laptop should be able to see a 10 gig hard drive, with the latest bios update. It may even see a 20 gig, though you might check IBM's site to see if they say anything about what it would accept.
