I have 1 gig of crucial pc2100 ram now.

Would it be worthwhile or beneficial to sell it, and get say pc3500 or pc3700 to run on my gigabyte 8inxp mb? or will upgrading to this ram have little benefit?

If you're only running a 133 (266Mhz Bus) then there is no point in upgrading.

The answer is NO, the ram is only going to go as fast as your board supports. If your on a nforce2 board or a board that supports higher speed ram then it will work. But if your board only supports your current ddr266 (pc2100) then pc3200 will still run at the same speed as its running now (266mhz).
