Upgrade Question

Was wondering which way to go between the C2Q6600 after the price drop or save up a little more for the 8800 640mb. I'm leaning VC but it would be really cool to have a quad core. It would be replacing my C2D 6700 that I am using now,

If you play games, get the 8800. The difference between a 7800GT and a 8800 640 is huge, the difference between your C2D 2.6 and a quad core is negligible for gaming and normal person computer use.

The person posting above me felt that was obvious, and that's why he said it was a dumb question. If you read enough hardware reviews it'll become obvious to you too.

It will depend that the use of PC will have. You're gamer? Take GeForce 8800 GTS. The improvements (Performance, principally.) and the compatibility with DirectX 10 are things to consideer. If you aren't gamer, Core 2 Quad is the coice, principally if you'll use the PC to edit videos (Four cores in this cases makes a big difference.).

lol video card...

without any knowledge of what a quadcore really is, your going to run into a rude awakening when you see those temps sky rocket.

Unless you render video for a living (assuming you do play games), teh video card upgrade is a no brainer.
