I included this as part of a post I placed in the general hardware area, but I figured I would try here as well since it's video focused.
Basically, I use a 2001fp LCD at 1600x1200 (native res). Right now I have a BFG 6800GT OC. As I understand it, there are not going to be any new AGP cards released from the enthusiast lines and that everything new in that line will be PCIe. I won't be ready to go PCIe for 12 to 18 months, so I was thinking I might consider an upgrade to max out my video performance.
Based on the benchies I have seen, it seems like there is a difference between the 6800GT and the X850XT at 1600x1200, but I wanted to see if any of you may have made such an upgrade and if it's actually a perceivable difference.
I am currently playing Doom 3, HL2, KOTOR2, SWG and the like.
Based on the feedback I have received thus far, it may not make sense to upgrade. Again, I only care about 1600x1200 as I can play this now with the 6800GT, though there are times when things get choppy. If I can expect the upgrade to smooth this out, then that might make sense.
Oh, and I am not overclocking right now (beyond BFG stock) and I am using 1600x1200 2xAA/4xAF
Regards,
Rick
