I'll make it brief 🙂

Right now I have 2x this.

I'm considering getting this as a replacement.

What kind of performance increase can I expect? Is it worth the money ?🙂 Prices are in Canadian dollars btw.

That's some very nice RAM, but honestly, with your unlocked multiplier, you don't actually need it. You've already got 2 GB of DDR2-667, and a 333 Mhz FSB is really fast enough for a dual-core processor. I think you should just buy that Ballistix PC8500, and send it to me, because my Ballistix PC8000 is feeling lonely.🙂

Anyway, in a nutshell, will it make your system slightly faster? Yes. $120 Canadian worth? Not in my opinion. If you buy that RAM, you most likely won't feel any difference at all, you'll only see it in some benchmarks. Have you considered buying two more identical sticks of what you have right now?

Overall system performance not more than 5 - 10%, IMO.

If you have the money to spend, and most importantly, if you experience performance issues (stuttery frame rate in games etc.), it might be worth the money.

If you just want to upgrade just for the "heck" of it, to run the "fastest" DDR2 around, just keep your money for the new MB and DDR3 in 1 year.

Good luck!

Actually, faster RAM doesn't help any at all with stuttering in games, only more RAM will help with that. And since he has an 8800GTX, I was guessing that might be the problem he was having, from having all of the graphics cranked.
